Youth Case Management and Sexual Health Counseling
The Motivating Philadelphia’s Adolescents via Counseling Today (MPACT) program offers one-on-one counseling (a.k.a. “coaching”) for LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13-24 for sexual health issues. The MPACT coach explores client’s motivation for engaging in risky behaviors such as unsafe sex and substance use, and utilizes a client-centered, harm-reduction approach to develop a prevention plan for reducing risk. In addition to individual risk-reduction counseling, clients also reduce risk through the use of creative self-expression. Previous MPACT youth were involved in the Movement Street Poets group and created a YouTube profile to showcase their work.
